Originally from Manitoulin Island, Ian studied Physical Education and Kinesiology at Laurentian University’s School of Human Movement. After completing his degree, he attended Sheridan College in Oakville where he obtained his certification as an Athletic Therapist.
Once becoming a Certified Athletic Therapist, Ian spent time at the University of Toronto with the varsity football and volleyball programs, and worked at the university’s Sports Medicine Clinic. He also worked at Ryerson University as the Head Therapist with the varsity hockey team, along with the Ryerson Dance programs, treating the athletes and staff in the Sports Medicine Clinic.
Ian then accepted a position with Cirque du Soleil as Tour Athletic Therapist, attending to the needs of the performers with respect to emergency medical, injury prevention and rehabilitation. Ian worked in Toronto for several years with the Toronto Film Studios, the Toronto Athletic Club, and in a private multidisciplinary clinic called Core Muscle Activation.
He is excited to work with the highly regarded and talented staff at Manitoulin Physio Centre, adding his unique skill set to help improve his clients’ neuromuscular function and to give back to the people of Manitoulin.
