Q: What does a typical visit entail?

A: When you come in to the clinic for the first time, you will be asked to fill out a confidential health history form. Your clinician will review your health history with you and then they will perform an assessment. Based on this assessment, a treatment plan will be developed and your treatment will be initiated. During your first visit, you and your clinician will determine when you should come back for a follow-up visit and/or the subsequent visits according to the agreed-upon treatment plan.

Q: How many treatments will I need in order to get better?

A: You and your clinician will determine the best course of action based on your specific diagnosis, your treatment goals, and your lifestyle and schedule.  There is no pre-determined set of rules that will dictate the number of treatments you will need.

Q: How do I pay for my treatment?

A: Manitoulin Physiotherapy Centre accepts cash, cheque, Debit, Mastercard and VISA.

Q: Are Physiotherapy visits covered by OHIP?

A: There are some publicly funded programs that you may qualify for in order to access Physiotherapy treatment. Please call the clinic at (705) 377-6244 to discuss your eligibility. There is currently no coverage for Massage Therapy, Chiropractic or Athletic Therapy under OHIP.

Q: Will my extended health benefits cover my treatment?

A: Many insurance companies do provide benefits that include health care services such as physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, naturopathic care, kinesiology, athletic therapy and acupuncture.  We advise you to contact your insurance provider to learn what you are covered for, and for how much.  In many cases, Manitoulin Physiotherapy Centre can bill the company directly for your visits.  Please let us know if you would like us to bill your insurance, and we can discuss how to set this up.

Q: Do I need a doctor’s referral in order to receive treatment?

A: You do no require a referral from a doctor to come in for a treatment.  However, some insurance companies require that you produce a referral in order to access your coverage. Again, we recommend that you contact your insurance company to find out their particular policies. Some physiotherapy public coverage streams also require that you are referred for treatment.
